Summer vacation fun!

Planning a summer getaway? Before you pack your bags and head out for some well-deserved relaxation, it's essential to safeguard your home’s plumbing system. Taking a few precautionary steps can prevent unexpected plumbing issues and ensure you return to a worry-free home. Here’s a quick checklist to help you prepare your home’s plumbing before you leave.  Call the experts at Diamond Plumbing Services, they love to help!

1. Check for Leaks

Inspect all faucets, toilets, and under-sink pipes for any leaks. Even small drips can turn into significant problems if left unattended for an extended period. Fixing these minor issues now can save you from major repairs later.

2. Turn Off the Water

If possible, turn off the main water supply to your home. This simple step can prevent potential flooding or water damage while you’re away. If turning off the main supply isn’t an option, at least shut off the water supply to major appliances like your washing machine and dishwasher.

3. Water Heater Care

Set your water heater to vacation mode if it has one, or turn it off completely. This will save energy and reduce the risk of any malfunctions while you’re not home.

4. Clean Drains

Ensure all your drains are clear to prevent backups. Pour a mixture of baking soda and vinegar down the drains, followed by hot water. This natural cleaning method can help keep your pipes clear and free from blockages. Never use harsh acidic chemicals sold by most big box stores.  These products can actually cause more costly problems.

5. Outdoor Hoses

Disconnect and store outdoor hoses to prevent any leaks or water wastage. Check the spigots for leaks, and consider using a timer for your sprinkler system to manage watering while you’re away. We offer comprehensive outdoor plumbing services to ensure your home’s exterior plumbing is in top shape.

6. Sump Pump Check

If your home has a sump pump, make sure it’s functioning correctly. This is crucial to avoid any basement flooding, especially if there are summer storms in your area. For sump pump inspections and maintenance, rely on the trusted name in Ada plumbing services.

7. Appliance Care

Turn off the water supply to appliances like washing machines and dishwashers. This step can prevent potential leaks or floods from occurring while you’re away. Our team can help with all your appliance plumbing needs to ensure your home is protected.

Enjoy Your Vacation with Peace of Mind

By following this simple checklist, you can enjoy your vacation knowing your home is protected from potential plumbing issues.

Diamond installed a remote water sensor that has been great. It notifies me anytime water is running. I have the option to shut the main water valve off from my phone! Well worth the investment and peace of mind. Give them a call to get one to protect your home.
